Thank you for visiting The Pilates Institute of Fort Wayne, located inside of Catalyst Fitness. Here at The Pilates Institute of Fort Wayne, we follow the strict guidelines of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).

The PMA is the international not for profit professional association for the Pilates Method.

The Pilates Method is a method of exercise developed by German-born Joseph Pilates. This form of exercise has been in continuous use in the United States since 1926 when Joseph and his wife Clara immigrated to New York City from Germany. Joseph originally called this method of exercise "Contrology" as it is a physical movement program designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body.

The PMA's mission is to protect the public by establishing certification and continuing education standards for Pilates professionals.

Catalyst Fitness and The Pilates Institute of Fort Wayne is proud to say that we are the only fully equipped and certified Pilates Studio in Northeast Indiana.

Pilates exercise focuses on postural symmetry, breath control, abdominal strength, spine, pelvis and shoulder stabilation, muscular flexibility, joint mobility and strengthening through the complete range of motion of all joints. Instead of isolating muscle groups, the whole body is trained, integrating the upper and lower extremities with the trunk.

Our Pilates Studio

The Pilates Institute of Fort Wayne boasts a fully equipped Pilates Studio for your full enjoyment of The Pilates Method of exercise.

Inside our Studio, we can accommodate work on mats as well as on our equipment that is based on the original equipment designs of Joseph Pilates.

Pilates is most often performed on a mat or a Reformer. A Reformer is a resistance-based piece of equipment with a moving carriage that slides along a wooden or metal frame. Springs and ropes provide assistance
and resistance, and exercises are performed lying down, sitting, kneeling or standing. Many Pilates enthusiasts prefer working on Reformers, which offer more resistance and support than a mat. Others love the flexibility of mat workouts, which allow you more flexibility in where and when you work out.

Our Studio houses four (4) Reformers that allow for Private instruction, Partner Workouts, or Small Group classes up to four participants. Along with many different tools and props, we also are equipped with a Trapeze Table (Cadillac), Combo Chairs with Handles, Pilates Step Barrels (
Spine Correctors), a Ped-a-Pul, and our brand new Pilates Ladder Barrel!




Unique Programs

We offer many different unique programs that utilize the Pilates Method. For example, our Pilates for Dancers program has proven to be a key tool for the development of many local dancers. See the video below.
