CONNIE WHITTINGTON
Group Fitness Instructor, nursing professional, and your guide to finding fitness motivation.
Connie Whittington brings versatility, enthusiasm, and healthcare knowledge to her role as a Group Fitness Instructor at Catalyst Fitness. With certifications in Group Centergy (AFAA CEUs) and Primary Group Fitness (Fitour), plus an Associate Degree in Science-Nursing and CPR certification for both adults and children, Connie offers a well-rounded approach to fitness that considers both physical and overall wellness. After following her favorite instructor to Catalyst approximately 2½ years ago, she has established herself as a valued member of the team, teaching Fit for Life and Strength for Life regularly while also substituting for Indoor Cycling classes and Child Watch.
Creating Community Through Group Fitness: Connie's philosophy centers on the power of beginnings and sustained motivation: "Everyone has a beginning to their personal fitness journey. The key is starting and staying motivated." She firmly believes in the accountability and social connection that group fitness provides, helping members create a "fitness family" that keeps them coming back. Her welcoming personality and inclusive teaching style make her classes approachable for all levels, creating an environment where everyone feels supported regardless of their fitness stage.
What Makes Connie Unique:
- Healthcare Background: Brings nursing education and perspective to her fitness instruction, informing a holistic approach to wellness.
- Versatile Instructor: Teaches multiple formats including Fit for Life, Strength for Life, and Indoor Cycling, accommodating diverse fitness preferences.
- Continuing Education: Currently studying yoga online with plans to obtain certification, demonstrating commitment to expanding her expertise.
- Unexpected Talent: Award-winning karaoke performer who brings her love of music and performance to energetic classes.
When not creating motivating atmospheres at Catalyst, Connie enjoys outdoor activities including camping and hiking (particularly at Potato Creek, Salamonie or Tippie with her friend's horse Willow), gardening, and golfing. She balances these pursuits with quieter pastimes like reading and journaling during winter months when her activities become more gym-focused. As the proud owner of "a crazy trio of collies," she brings the same enthusiasm to her personal life that she does to her classes. Looking ahead, Connie aims to obtain her yoga certification and study to become a nutritionist/herbalist while continuing her fitness journey at Catalyst. Described as "compassionate, loyal, and fun," she lives by the simple but powerful motto: "Always be kind."
